Straubing. On October 22nd 2015 Mr Abdallah S. A. Abd Raboh finished his PhD thesis on the topic "Bio-refinery and -conversion of lignocellulosic rice straw to produce biofuel and high valuable by-products" successfully.
Field excursion to drying plants for alfalfa located in Champagne-Ardenne region, France (2015-10-15 - 2015-10-17)
Reims, France. A field excursion enabled to reveal the procedures of two industrial facilities specialized in drying and separation of alfalfa located in Champagne-Ardenne region took place from 15th to 17th of October 2015 .

Rome. The 8th edition of the biennial �European Symposium on Biopolymers� was hosted by the Sapienza Universit� di Roma.
Research Symposium on Water, Environment and
Sustainability (2015-06-11 - 2015-06-12)
Munich. On June 11th to 12th, the first bilateral Symposium between the University of Queensland and Technische Universit�t M�nchen on the topic Water, Environment and Sustainability took place.
This event, organised by Prof. Sieber, marks the start of a series of symposia between both universities to accompany long-term and close collaboration.
International Technology transfer conference in the border areas of the EU-region Danube-Vltava 2015 (2015-04-14 - 2015-04-15)
Česk� Budějovice (CZ). The South Bohemian University and the local Academy Technology Transfer Centre (JCTT) invited experts from different science sectors and political representatives to the international Technology transfer conference to Česk� Budějovice, Czech Republic, on April 14th and 15th, 2015. The topic of this event was to highlight the role of technology transfer, that is cooperation between science and technology parks and the commercial sector in the border areas of the EU-region Danube-Vltava.
Spin-off CASCAT GmbH awarded first prize at PlanB business plan competition.
Straubing. The 15-01-27 was the date of the final decision of the PlanB business plan competition. CASCAT the first spin-off of the Chair of Chemistry of Biogenic Resources was awarded with the first prize

Straubing. On January 9th this year Mrs. Jennifer Flemke successfully finished her PhD thesis on the topic "New Methods for the Immobilisation of Biocatalysators" at the chair for chemistry of biogenic resources.

Straubing. Just two weeks later, on December the 5th, Ms. Imgard Unger successfully finished her PhD on the topic �Influence of selected parameters in hydrothermal and alkaline pretreatment processes on the enzymatic accessibility of biomass residues�.

Aachen. The Gesellschaft f�r Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie e.V. DECHEMA in cooperation with the Gesellschaft Verfahrenstechnik und Biotechnologie VDI arranged the common ProcessNet-Annual Convention and 31. DECHEMA-Annual Convention for biotechnologists at the convention building Eurogress in Aachen, Germany.
The convention took place from September 29th to October 2nd 2014 under the overall subject �ProcessNet 21plus-Creating Future�.

Within the frame of a project co-funded by the European community and the Bavarian state ministry for environment and consumer protection, we examine the possibility to identify rare novel enzymes from metagenome libraries by the use of digital PCR.
Study: Biotechnology � the Key factor for bioeconomy (June 2014)
Fourty years ago the world�s first survey on biotechnology was presented by DECHEMA, this anniversary what was used by the executive board of the Fachgemeinschaft Biotechnologie of DECHEMA to ask the Zukunftsforum to analyze the role of biotechnology in the bioeconomy and find scientific and technical answers for the challenges as formulated in the national research strategy �Bio�konomie 2030�.

In the age of globalization the importance of sustainability is constantly increasing. Therefore significant targets are reduced emission of greenhouse gases as well as the substitution of fossil fuels by renewable resources. Especially aviation and lubricant industry rely on alternative resources in the future by the ongoing limitation of fossil resources such as mineral oil.
Software Workshop for Scientists in Denmark (2014-04-17)
Computerization does not stop at science: ever growing data masses must be processed�a task only doable with automation. Steven Koenig, doctoral student at the chair of Chemistry of Biogenic Resources, and Luis Pedro Coelho of EMBL in Heidelberg worked together at University of Southern Denmark, Odense to teach scientists there how to use command-line interfaces, regular expressions, Python, unit testing, Git and SQL.
Kick-off Seminar �Project management� (2013-12-12)
The second kick-off seminar of the TUM Graduate School in winter 2013 was visited by 9 PhD students from Straubing Center of Science. In this 3 days event the participants from the chairs of Chemistry of Biogenic Resources and Biogenic Polymers could learn important things about �Project Management� and show the increased importance of Straubing in the Center of Excellence for Renewable Resources.
